Envision® Certification

Envision is the leading international protocol for measuring and certifying the sustainability of infrastructure. With an accredited in-house team of three Envision SP professionals, Greenwich provides concrete support to companies, designers, public administrations, and contracting authorities in the sustainable design of infrastructure.

What Envision Certification is

Envision is a rating system created to independently and objectively assess the sustainability of any infrastructure project throughout its entire life cycle, integrating environmental, social, economic, and governance aspects. It makes it possible to measure the tangible value a project generates for communities and territories in terms of climate resilience, environmental quality, resource management, well-being, and quality of life.

Who it is for

The Envision protocol is designed for public and private clients, infrastructure funds, utilities, developers, and designers who want to qualify their projects using a single, internationally recognized metric. It can be applied to any type of new or existing infrastructure, including roads, railways, ports, airports, energy and water networks, and transportation and communication systems.

How Envision strengthens Sustainable Leadership

Adopting the Envision protocol enhances a client’s ESG positioning by making infrastructure sustainability performance measurable and translating it into cost–benefit assessments for communities, the environment, and stakeholders. Throughout the certification process, Envision promotes dialogue among all parties involved in project delivery, facilitates access to green financing, and transparently and holistically demonstrates the concrete commitment made toward climate action, biodiversity, resilience, and social impact.

Greenwich’s Envision Service

Greenwich provides an in-house 3 Envision Sustainability Professional, accredited by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), who plays a key role in the end-to-end application of the rating system: from the initial pre-assessment to score strategy development, from coordinating the project team to managing the entire certification process with the independent body ICMQ.

This service integrates Greenwich’s well-established expertise in ESG, LCA, decarbonization, and biodiversity, creating new synergies that enhance and strengthen sustainability pathways in the infrastructure sector.

Envision Process Phases with Greenwich

  • Preliminary project analysis and Envision feasibility study, identifying rating objectives and opportunities for improvement.
  • Definition of the Envision strategy and support for the design team in integrating the most relevant credits already during the concept phase.
  • Evidence collection, preparation of required documentation, and operational management of the project’s registration, assessment, and certification process with the independent body.

Benefits for clients and designers

With Envision, infrastructure projects become more resilient to climate risks and better aligned with the requirements of the ecological transition. They also become more resource-efficient and more widely accepted by local communities thanks to structured stakeholder-engagement processes. For clients, this translates into more durable assets, investments that are easier to defend over time, and a clear positioning as sustainability leaders within their sector.

Why choose Greenwich for Envision

For years, Greenwich has been supporting companies, funds, and developers in strengthening their sustainability leadership through ESG advisory services, Green and Healthy Building certifications, and decarbonization and biodiversity projects. Integrating the Envision service makes it possible to extend this strategic approach to the infrastructure sector, ensuring a single partner capable of overseeing vision, methodology, and certifiable results.
